WESTWOOD ENERGY

Case Study

Outsourced Design & Staffing Support

Westwood Energy case study overview

THE CHALLENGE

  • Westwood Energy needed an experienced Design Engineer.
  • Recruitment via other agencies was unsuccessful.
  • RECenergy engaged in October 2025 and secured the right candidate within four weeks.
  • The successful candidate had a three-month notice period, creating an immediate capacity gap.
  • Westwood had a time-critical 5.9MW Solar PV project (~13,104 panels) for a multinational kitchen manufacturer based in the Northeast, requiring a full engineering design package under tight customer deadlines.

THE RECENERGY SOLUTION

To bridge the capacity gap, RECenergy deployed its outsourced design team.

Working to Westwood’s technical requirements and project standards, we used PV*SOL, AutoCAD and SolarEdge Designer to deliver:

  • PV*SOL modelling & system design
  • Detailed Solar PV engineering design
  • PV array & system layouts
  • Engineering drawings
  • AutoCAD drawing package
  • Technical documentation
  • Design revisions where required
  • Defined deliverables & timescales
  • Regular meetings & progress updates

The project was managed against an agreed programme, with meetings held as scheduled and actions tracked through to completion.

THE RESULT

  • Full engineering design package delivered within the required customer-driven programme and to the required standard.
  • Designs presented for client review and signed off at the first meeting.
  • Positive feedback on accuracy, presentation and overall project management.
  • Provided an immediate solution to a resource gap, ensuring the project stayed on track.
  • Permanent recruitment process continued without compromising the immediate project requirement.
